For these reasons and more, Zanzibar Island (officially called Unguja) is the archipelago’s focal point, and the most popular destination for visitors, but choose your spot carefully. While it’s easy to find tranquil beauty or party buzz (or both), increasing development threatens the island’s ineluctable magic and fragile community resources.

Known as the Spice Island, the beautiful island of Zanzibar on Africa’s east coast is bursting with culture and history, seemingly at odds with its idyllic geography of white-sand beaches with palms swaying lazily in the sea breeze. Together this makes Zanzibar a fabulous place to explore as well as a dream to relax and unwind.

>> Accommodation: Dhow Palace Hotel
After breakfast we drive to Kizimbani at 09h00 for the spice tour and lunch. Explore the island and its hidden treasures at a relaxed pace. Travel deep into the interior to see the fragrant spice plantations. Discover how pods, bark, buds and berries are harvested and dried. The intoxicating aromas of fresh cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg will delight the senses and stimulate appetites, so while you are on te island please be sure to sample the sweet tropical fruits, fresh seafood and zesty curries Zanzibar is famous for. This is the cheapest place to buy locally made perfumes, oils and spice rings. After taking a special locally prepared spice lunch we will drive back to Zanzibar Stone Town for leisure before we proceed with Zanzibar Stone Town tour.

A World Heritage Site, boasts a labyrinth of winding alleys, bustling marketplaces, beautifully carved wooden doors, breathtaking mosques and grand Arab residences. With streets too small and tightly packed for cars to cruise along, Stone Town is perfect for pedestrians. And getting lost. Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is Zanzibar’s biggest city which got its name from the fact that many of the gorgeous 19th-century buildings are built from coral stone. It may look ramshackle at first but this intriguing town is a living time capsule. The architecture here has been shaped by generations of explorers and spice traders and provides many interesting photography opportunities. We will pay a visit to some of the most interesting and attractive sites of Zanzibar Stone Town including the former slave market, National Museum, Old Fort and City Market. Dinner and overnight stay at Dhow Palace Hotel

After breakfast at 08h00 we take a boat ride to Prison island. The Island is fringed with a beautiful coral reef, ideal for snorkeling and has a lovely white beach for sunbathing. This tour is a great way to see some history and wildlife, and also to see Stone Town from the sea as many old maritime legends would have done. The island is more commonly known as a home of Zanzibar’s Giant Aldebaran tortoise colony, some of which are over a hundred years old! Once on the island, you have the opportunity to feed and pet the tortoises, if you have time you may also like to take a stroll through the forested interior where you will see a wide variety of birds, colorful peacocks, bats, and beautiful butterflies. Keep your eyes peeled too for the shy and elusive Duikers – an unusual tiny antelope species. After the tour we ride back to Stone Town for lunch, leisure and overnight stay on bed & breakfast basis at Dhow Palace Hotel.
